However, the entire week before is also incredible, and honestly the 16th and 17th are just about equal in terms of magical potency. I was considering to how to put together a ritual for this, poking through the PGM (as I’m wont to do), and landed on PGM XIII1 – AKA the 8th Book of Moses – which is specifically called out for the night before or of the New Moon in Aries. Bingo! PGM XIII is pretty badass, including as it does the Heptameron (the Agathos Daimon invocation) and the Heptagram (the directional vowels with hand positions thing) – both of which I incorporated into the Lunation Rite. But the eighth book (which appears in three slightly different variants back-to-back, which was fun to sort out) is a pretty tight invocation to ‘The Aion of Aions’ through ECHEBYKRŌM of Helios (typical PGM “big God” mashup stuff with all the barbarous names).
